The first half of 2019 has spelled doom for some 7 million people. The 7 million people have now been displaced from their homes. This has been reported the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC). The IDMC also postulates that the displaced persons number is expected to tripple by the end of the year.
The extreme weather conditions will have over 20 million people homeless by the end of 2019. These internal displacements reports were conducted between January and June 2019. The extreme weather has been associated with the changing climate. 2019 will be the worst yet with devastation ranging from hurricane Dorian in the United States to Cyclone Fani and Idai , in Asia and Africa Respectively. All these displaced over 4 million people cumulatively.
Due to these conditions, we need to invest in future proof sustainable developments. All in all, climate change is a phenomenon that needs to be checked. Unless we live sustainably, poverty and more disasters will continue to hit us.
